ABSORBED VIOLENCE
SOME WOUNDS DO NOT DISAPPEAR. THEY BECOME STRUCTURE.

Golem of Absorbed Violence explores the silent accumulation of harm carried within the human body and psyche. Unlike violence that erupts outwardly, this work examines violence that is internalised; endured, contained, and buried beneath the surface until it becomes part of identity itself. The figure stands heavily weighted, asymmetrical and physically altered by what it carries. The body appears swollen and distorted, as though trauma has reshaped its structure over time.
Despite its scale and apparent solidity, the sculpture communicates exhaustion rather than power. The surface retains scars, fractures, and roughened textures, suggesting repeated impact and repair. Nothing is polished away. The marks remain visible as evidence of endurance.
At the centre of the work, an exposed internal cavity reveals embedded wood emerging from within the body.
This opening functions simultaneously as wound, exposure, and survival. The organic material suggests memory, rooted experience, and something ancient or instinctive that persists despite damage. The absence of a mouth reflects silence; the inability, refusal, or impossibility of articulation. The eyes remain dark and watchful, carrying awareness without release. Within The Golem series, this sculpture represents the stage where violence is no longer external alone. It has been absorbed into the architecture of the self, altering posture, identity, and existence. Yet despite this burden, the figure remains standing. That endurance becomes the work’s final act of resistance.
