MASS DECEPTION

The illusion of freedom is often more powerful than freedom itself.

Golem of Mass Deception examines the architecture of manipulated reality the systems, narratives, and pressures through which human beings are conditioned to accept illusion as truth. The figure appears solid and monumental, yet beneath its surface sits an exposed internal chamber containing symbols of chance, control, value, and permitted existence.

The embedded dice reference the illusion of free choice: the suggestion that outcomes are random, while invisible systems quietly determine the boundaries within which those choices can exist. The cavity is intentionally exposed rather than concealed. It functions as both wound and revelation; a rupture through which the internal mechanisms of belief, manipulation, fear, and constructed reality become visible. The body itself remains mute and faceless. The absence of a mouth reflects silence enforced through exhaustion, conformity, surveillance, or social conditioning.

The eyes remain dark and guarded, suggesting awareness without release. From the rear of the figure, exposed structural elements emerge through controlled fractures. These visible supports reject the illusion of perfection. The sculpture acknowledges that identity, ideology, and even morality are often built upon hidden frameworks that remain unseen until rupture occurs.

Within The Golem series, this work represents a stage where the individual begins to recognise the systems acting upon them, yet remains physically and psychologically bound within those structures. The sculpture asks whether modern society still permits genuine freedom or merely the appearance of it.
